NFL Kickoff Sunday

I was crazy excited about today, kickoff Sunday, because I’ve been hearing great things about the Houston Texans. And I thought that we would have a great team this year…but just look at the box score and you’ll know why I don’t even want to talk about the Texans right now. I haven’t written them off but MAN that was a poor excuse for a football game and it nearly ruined my Sunday. So on to things I don’t mind talking about like—

OCHO-CINCO
My favorite entertainer (maybe besides Conan O’Brien) just might be Chad Ocho Cinco. For those of you who don’t know. The wide receiver previously known as Chad Johnson legally changed his name to Chad Ocho Cinco. A couple of years ago Chad Johnson, who wears the number 85, asked for people to start referring to him as Ocho Cinco in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. I have no problem with this, I think it’s great. Most people don’t even know when Hispanic Heritage Month is (hint: it isn’t February) so I say thanks to Senor Ocho Cinco; but the NFL doesn’t think it’s great. The NFL is refusing to let Chad Ocho Cinco wear “Ocho Cinco” on the back of his jersey. Hilarious. Mr. Ocho Cinco will have to wear some other man’s name for a while.

Matt Cassel
In other NFL kickoff Sunday news. Tom Brady is injured, most likely for the season. Now I don’t hate the Patriots like most football fans. I enjoyed their winning streak and I think they are an amazing team and most people are haters. So I, unlike most football fans, am saddened by the loss of such a talented player. However Brady’s backup is some guy named Matt Cassel. Never heard of him? That’s because he hasn’t started a game since high school. Not just in the NFL, he didn’t even start a game for USC when he was in college. All I know about the guy is that his brother pitches for the Astros. Don’t write off the Pat’s season yet though because Golden Tom Brady was once an unknown backup…

The June Apples
The reason my Sunday wasn’t horrible is because The June Apples had a good showing a Catbirds. For those of you who missed it…see the next June Apples show it’s a lot of fun.
